Mr Machin has been providing expert orthopaedic opinion in Orthopaedic personal injury and Foot & Ankle clinical negligence cases since 2013. He has produced over 3,800 medico-legal reports.

He receives instructions from a wide panel of solicitors across the United Kingdom and accepts instructions from both Claimant and Defendant parties.

He currently prepares approximately 150–200 medico-legal reports per year, including around 60 relating to serious, complex, and high-value injuries. Mr Machin has attended court in his capacity as an orthopaedic expert witness.

Mr Machin examines clients at his private consulting rooms in Chester, Wrexham, and Abergele, and is pleased to receive instructions directly from solicitors. Where required, he is also happy to undertake home visits and prison visits. He is able to travel nationwide and internationally for appropriate instructions.

NHS

Mr Machin practises at The Countess of Chester Hospital, having previously spent nine years as a Consultant at Mid-Cheshire Hospital Foundation NHS Trust. Whilst at Mid-Cheshire he was involved in medical leadership, first as Associate Foundation Programme Director (five years), then Clinical Director for Trauma & Orthopaedics (two and a half years), and finally as Associate Medical Director (three years).

Mr Machin concluded his orthopaedic training in an internationally recognised higher surgical training fellowship at Wirral University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, during this fellowship he received advanced training in the management of complex elective, revision and trauma foot and ankle conditions.

Prior to this he completed six years of specialist orthopaedic training in the Mersey Deanery, this followed on from his core surgical training after qualifying with Honours from The University of Liverpool School of Medicine in 2003.
